Jesus walks in the way of the cross Lu 9:23 - "And He said unto them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." Peter must die to himself Lu 22:31 - "And the Lord said, Simon Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat." First Point---- A hidden Jesus Second Point---- Why Jesus is hidden, Third Point---- How Jesus may be found FIRST POINT---- A hidden Jesus Peter must die to himself Lu 22:31 - "And the Lord said, Simon Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat." Lu 22:53 - Jesus told the Chief Priests and captains of the temple, "but this is your hour, and the hour of darkness." Ec 11:8 - "But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many." M'r 14:71 - Jesus had withdrawn his Spirit, and Peter was in darkness, "But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak." THREE DAYS AND NIGHTS Peter in the bitterness of his soul. M'r 16:10 "And she went and told them that had been with Him, as they mourned and wept." JESUS WAS HIDDEN FROM THEM Lu 24:11 -"And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not." Verse 14-15 - And they talked together of all these things which had happened. While they communed together and reasoned, Jesus Himself drew near, and went with them." A HIDDEN JESUS is still an instructing Jesus!!! Lu 24:27 - "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself." SECOND POINT---- Why Jesus is hidden, Jesus is hidden to teach us the way of the cross PETER NEEDED to take up his cross, and crucify SELF Lu 22:33 - And he said unto Him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death." Peter did not understand the way of the cross. M't 16:21- Jesus began to shew His disciples, "how He must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day." Verse 23 - Then Peter took Him, and began to rebuke Him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee." Jesus is hidden through human reasoning M't 16:17 - Jesus had told Peter, "Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." THIS WAS NOT HUMAN REASONING, but a revelation from the Father. Verse 23 - Peter's rebuke in verse 22 was reasoning with the flesh, "But Jesus turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me Satan: thou art an offense unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men." Isa 55:8-9 - "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.." Jesus is hidden through unbelief Lu 24:6 - The angle told the women at the grave, "He is not here, but is risen: remember how He spake unto you when He was yet in Galilee, Verse 7 - Saying the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again." Verse 8 - "And they remembered his words," Verse 11 - "And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not" See verse 21-24 Verse 25 - "O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken" See verses 6-8 - "And they remembered His words" Lu 24:32 - And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while He talked with us by the way?" JESUS HID THROUGH IDLENESS AND FULLNESS OF BREAD Eze 16:49 - "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy." Verse 50 - "And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me..." Ro 1:25 - Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen." Re 3:17 - "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked." THIRD POINT----How Jesus may be found. THE SIN OF SODOM, "neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy." Isa 58:6-12 READ and explain. Verse 9 - Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer. . ." JESUS MAY BE FOUND, by keeping the sabbath Isa 58 13:14 READ and explain. Heb 4:9-10 - "There remaineth therefore a rest [sabbath] to the people of God." Verses 4 & 10 - There is no rest for the wicked. JESUS MAY BE FOUND through obedience Joh 15:7 - "IF" - "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." See verses 8-13 Joh 14:23 - "IF" - "If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him." JESUS MAY BE FOUND, through faith. Jas 1:5-8 - 5) "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6) But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7) For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8) A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. M'r 11:22-24 - Jesus said, "Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24) Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye shall receive them, and ye shall have them." JESUS MAY BE FOUND through forgiveness M'r 11:25"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven MAY forgive you your trespasses." Verse 26 - "But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." See also Col 3:12-13 - JESUS MAY BE FOUND in the way of repentance Jas 4:1-3 - "From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? 2) Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. 3) Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts." The Daily paper "Several Administration officials have said soberly that the only real solution to the drought is to pray for rain" GOD WANTS REPENTANCE Jer 3:3 - "Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain" Verse 13-14 - Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God. . . Turn O backsliding children , saith the Lord; for I am married unto you." See Col 3 verses 1 through 10 JESUS MAY BE FOUND through prayer Lu 11:9"And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."
